This photo series is inspired by the manga and anime Yofukashi no Uta (Call of the Night), which is set in Japan and takes place almost entirely at night. I wanted to capture the atmosphere and aesthetics unique to Japan after dark, which led me to look towards the work of Liam Wong — a photographer well known for his cyberpunk-influenced, visually striking night photography. While his style was a major influence, I also wanted to pay tribute to the classic horror themes that run through the series, which features strong supernatural elements. That’s why I’ve leaned more towards red and warmer tones in this project, in contrast to Wong’s cooler, neon-heavy palette. It felt like a fitting way to blend eerie mood with a vibrant, cinematic look
