This photo series is inspired by Final Fantasy VII, drawing from both the original 1997 release and its modern remake. A recurring theme throughout the game is the idea of memory — how it shapes identity, and how it can be fragile, fragmented, or unreliable. To reflect this, I was particularly influenced by the work of Daido Moriyama, a photographer known for capturing images that feel more like fleeting memories than precise records. His grainy, high-contrast style blurs the line between dream and reality, which felt like a fitting visual language for this project. In terms of composition and tone, I used light and shadow to mirror this emotional ambiguity. The warmer, more grounded scenes were intentionally made brighter and softer, while the colder, more uncertain elements were cast in deeper shadows. This contrast was key to evoking that uneasy sense of recollection — where some things shine with clarity, and others fade into doubt. Through this blend of visual storytelling and artistic influence, the aim was to honour the emotional depth of Final Fantasy VII while bringing a personal, memory-infused aesthetic to the work.
